Write an efficient algorithm that searches for a target value in an m x n integer matrix. The matrix has the following properties:

Example 1:

Input: matrix = [[1,4,7,11,15],[2,5,8,12,19],[3,6,9,16,22],[10,13,14,17,24],[18,21,23,26,30]], target = 5

Output: true

Example 2:

Input: matrix = [[1,4,7,11,15],[2,5,8,12,19],[3,6,9,16,22],[10,13,14,17,24],[18,21,23,26,30]], target = 20

Output: false

            return False
        
        r, c = 0, len(matrix[0]) - 1
        
        while r < len(matrix) and c >= 0:
            if matrix[r][c] == target:
                return True
            elif matrix[r][c] > target:
                c -= 1
            else:
                r += 1
        
        return False
